Introduction :

Project Management is equally important for managing large as well as small projects. In fact, PM skills and techniques can be utilized partially or wholly, in almost all the processes within the operational framework as well.
Project Management is a skill that ensures that employees involve themselves in undertaking such projects, all the while learning and improving themselves to succeed in such endeavors. The skills associated with defining and managing a project can be learned. Understanding and practicing the concepts taught in this class increases the likelihood of success on the project.

This training program is designed to emphasis on above points. The program is based on A guide to Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide) published by Project Management Institute (PMI)®. The program serves as a very good Foundation for Project Management Professional (PMP)® examination preparation.

Learning Objectives : At the end of the training program, participants will be able to…

  • Understand the importance and contribution of using appropriate project management knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques.
  • Communicate through a common language and understanding of basic Project Management terms and concepts
  • Define various parameters of the project.
  • Demonstrate the impact and importance of Psychological Speed® (Conceptualized and developed by Dhananjay Gokhale)
  • Practice activities, tools, & techniques, are necessary in each phase of a project.
  • Determine the strength and gaps based on their project management environment.
  • Use comfortably the tools and techniques like – Work Breakdown Structure, Risk Assessment and response, Communication Management Plan, Issue Logs
  • Prepare draft level project plan components like WBS, Schedule, Risk Register, Communication Plan, Project Org Structure, Reporting Structure.
  • Achieve 21 contact hours of Project Management Education

High level course flow :

Day 1 : Introduction and basic formalities, Project Management fundamentals, Project Initiation, Project Scope Management, Project Time Management

Day 2 : EV (Earned Value – Monitoring & Controlling technique) Management on the project,
Project Cost Management, Project Risk management, Project Procurement, "Interactive Project Management Game/ Case-Study / Movie"

Day 3 : Project Human Resource & Communication Management, Project Integration Management Case Analysis / Project Presentation(s), Evaluation and Result, Conclusions.

Methodology :

The program would be based on Case Study workouts. The participants will be made aware about the PM Principles by using techniques like discussions, group presentations, game and role play to facilitate them to work on major tools like WBS, Schedule, Resource Loading, Risk Register, Communication Plan, on the real life case study as discussed.

Prerequisite :

Participants should have project management background as project managers and have managed couple of projects or part of projects. It would be advantageous to include the participants of similar profiles in terms of their seniority/ experience attending the batch. This course expects participants to work on many tools.
